A local icon that stands out on a point jutting into the northern end of the Spencer Gulf, named Point Lowly by Matthew Flinders in 1802. The light is a 1000-watt lamp that gives one flash every 5 seconds, with a range of 26 nautical miles (48 kms).
This museum is rich with the local history of Whyalla. Originally built in 1922 as a sheep station, it has been since converted into a heritage site. Look at pictures from the olden days and and learn about the early years of the city.
